Chicago

As many of you may know, I just returned from a truly amazing trip out to Chicago for the Front Row Foundations biggest fundraising event of the year. Our event was a smashing success and a ton of fun. While I was out I had the pleasure of taking a day in the windy city to wander around and snap some scenes. To set the stage, I had pulled an all nighter the night before I was to leave in order to get the blog up to date before I embarked on the week-weekend adventure. I arrived in the heart of Chicago’s city shortly after 10am energized by multiple (meaning 4) Starbucks Double Shot Expresso’s. I battled on through the day with my caffeine induced body and shot well over 1000 shots in about 9 hours of walking. Read more…

“Working out back”

Boy do I have a good deal of work ahead of me in order to catch up on posts haha. This has been a repeating trend over the last few weeks, but it looks like I will be back on schedule now as travel has settled down for the next few months and work should be back to a steady pace. Its all part of the adventure right 🙂

“After a long days work”

One of the tricks I like to do in order to spice up the daily photo walk and keep it fresh is to shoot themed mini series for the day. Its amazing once you think about it at how many opportunities there are to shoot one idea in multiple ways, whether it be geometry, color, composition based there are endless possibilities that will push your creative observation to the next level. Grandpa’s Workshop

This is an image I’ve seen in my head for some time now. I’ve been wanting to create it and wanting to create it, and finally had my opportunity this weekend.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this Easter the family took a trip out to my Grandma’s house for the day. Before we took off I ventured down into Grandpa’s shop to capture this one scene. I knew exactly what I was going for, as I tried this shot once before on our last visit but didn’t like the end results. Ive been extremely picky on this shot as I wanted to ensure it did the scene and idea justice. Read more…

Holy Entrance

This Saturday a good friend of mine and I took a day trip out to Kalamazoo, a city a little over an hour away from our town of Grand Rapids. The idea was to tour an area that was completely unfamiliar to either one of us, without the use of maps or gps, just relying on our instincts to guide us to and through the town as we embarked on this adventurous day.
