Coffee Wagon
Ahhhh, carnival time by the beach! You know summer is just about here as the ferris wheels and other rides erect overlooking the city/beach. Its quite incredible, a town (Holland MI) about a half hour from me is plastered with all sorts of festivities. No matter where you go in the city there are Elephant Ear booths, kids running around with Cotton Candy (my fav!) with the parents to follow running after their sugar induced preteens that are off to the next ride or attraction.Â
I was accompanied again by my buddy Kelly, who just recently picked up photography as a hobby as well. We prowled the streets and shore, getting attacked by birds (true story!! They were vicious), grabbing each interesting scene until he ran out of film and I ran out of battery life (tip: check your batteries before you go out haha). Before that happened however I managed to run through my 8 gig card capturing some wonderful scenes, like this Coffee Wagon and its owner.
There were a TON of snack vendors outside this carnival, yet this dudes shop was the coolest of them all. Unfortunately I had no cash on me in order to get a tea or anything to help fund his caffeine induced wagon. However I did get this pic, which I was plenty excited about grabbing, giving me a nice burst of energy to carry on the many miles we walked through the rest of the nights shooting.
Maybe because of tiredness, but this picture had me fooled for a few seconds. Very cool.
Haha, how did it have you fooled? Just curious 🙂 Thanks
I thought it was a real wagon. >_>
Oh haha, its kind of deceiving isn’t it. The Clothe like top really throws ya off.
love his bored expression
I know it, made for a great pic 🙂 Thanks Rob
while I’m here I must ask what’s an elephant ear booth, wikipedia suggested it was something like a doughnut but not. I’m foreign and confused.
Haha, sorry didnt even think about that. An Elephant ear is a big piece of flattened dough maybe the size of a medium or small pizza usually in an oval shape. You can get it with all sorts of toppings, butter, cinnamon, powdered sugar. Its deep fried so a bit crispy. And it makes a mess when you eat it haha. Typical Carnival fun here in the states.
they sound yummy
Haha you must be a coffee guy Rob.
I have a toddler and a baby caffine is my friend
The picture seems almost fairy-tale-ish! Maybe that’s because of the soft lighting. Beautiful shot nonetheless!
Thanks Nikhil! Im glad it was perceived that way, as I put a decent bit of time in to give it a fantasy child like imagination feel 🙂
I love Holland! Especially the Holland State Park. I dedicated a chapter to it in my travel guide “West Michigan” which was published in German language.
Oh look at you, travel guide author and all 😀 I love Holland as well, my cousins lived out there when we were kids, so I got to spend a lot of time around the tulip infested area haha.
I don’t drink coffee, but that’s the coolest coffee wagon ever!! 🙂
Im with ya Cindy, Im not a coffee drinker… Tea on the other hand! And yes definitely the coolest Coffee Wagon i’ve ever seen, however it does win by default being the only Coffee Wagon Ive ever seen haha
Great composition, angle, scene and colour!! I like very much the subject, the density of elements, and his expression is fabulous!!! Well seen!!!
As always thanks for the descriptive comment, love hearing other creatives inner thoughts on my work 🙂 You Rock Santi!
Love it, the image of the wagon is so powerful and exciting, while the body language and expression on the guy is the complete opposite.
Well put Matt! Thanks 🙂
Great processing… something about the colors that is very nice 🙂
Thanks Bashar, I went for a slightly desaturated look, works well with the mood of the worker 🙂
great and very interesting post, Nick! 😉
Hey thanks Mike 😀
Cool, Nick!
Thanks Marianne 🙂
Very cool photo, Nick. It looks like the barista needs some customers or a cup of coffee himself. 😉
Haha good point 🙂 Thanks Shez
Great colors and great observation Shez – that is exactly what it looks like. I assume you didn’t pose him which just makes the spontaneity of the whole situation perfect!
I leave all the interpretation up to the viewer 😉 Thanks Justin
This reminds me of The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. What an absolutely awesome-looking stall. =D
Cant say Im familiar with the reference. However I just looked it up and with a cast like that I think I will get familiar with it in the next week haha. Thanks for the sudden inspiration Kyra 😀
The movie has this delirious-fantasyish feel to it. Hence the reference. Of course, I spent most of the movie drooling over the cast. =D
Well I cant say I will be drooling over the cast, however I do enjoy their acting hahaa
Awww..what a sweet wagon that is! Great shot Nick. 🙂
*hugs*
Thanks Sonel 🙂
Americano to go, please!
Hahaha, I know every time I look at it want a hot tea 🙂 Thanks Gordon
