3 of a Kind
So, I often get asked… ” Hey! Mr. Photo Man I bet you have a lot of photo taker apps on your touchy telephone don’t you?.. DONT YOU?!?” (I guess I have a lot of conversations with enraged drunks). So I thought I would break down the 4 photog apps that I currently have and use on my iphone, only 2 of which are actual photo editing apps, and you can do with it as you like. So here it is… I now bring you:
The Nick Exposed Approved iPhonography apps
- Xposure – Although this app has a good hand full of Im sure useful functions, I only use it for one reason… An extremely accurate Sunrise and Sunset counter. It helps to know when the “Golden Hour” will be arriving.
- Bracket Mode- Im a sucker for shooting HDR on certain subjects, and this app allows me to auto bracket 3 exposures separately and combine them in Photomatix later rather than relying on an hdr app to “Get things right”.
- Instagram- This is more of a pass time app, and although I don’t use it as much anymore, I cant help but play with the different filters every once in a while.
- Snapseed- This is by far one of my all time fav apps that I have on my phone! This is like having Lightroom on the go, with such a wide range of precision editing features and similar controls to that of Nik Softwares actual photo editing softwares for mac and pc.
So there you have it, the only 4 photo apps I have and need on my iPhone. Take it or leave it as you may, but at least I now have a post to send all the crazy drunkards to hahaha.
Snapseed is so my favourite app on my iphone/ipad
Isnt it awesome Mark!! Thanks for your input 🙂
I don’t have any yet but these seem like a good start.
Absolutely Thaddeus, I always suggest experimenting with other apps, but you really cant go wrong with these 🙂
Terrific photo (and nice info on apps, too)
Thank you! I truly appreciate that 🙂
Snapseed. 100% agree. Excellent app.
Thanks for the input Milton 🙂
I have Photoshop for iPad. On my phone I have Tap, tap, tap, which I don’t use much. Two photography-related apps I like are Stuck on Earth and The Photographer’s Ephemeris.
Stuck on Earth is so awesome!! Wish it was available for iPhone. Its one of the top reasons why I will be getting an iPad in the coming months haha. Thanks Rachael!
Ps Nice pic.
haha Thanks again 🙂
Stunning shot as usual Nick. 🙂
Thank you Sonel 🙂
Great shot!!!! I like very much the composition, geometry and colour. Well seen!!! About the software… I don’t have a camera in my mobile phone (don’t ask me where I obtained it, but I like it. I just want it to phone).
I can understand that. Sometimes its good to have a separation between devices! Thanks Santi 🙂
This has to be one of my “top 5” favorite shots that I’ve seen since I began following your blog. “Stunning” is the best I can do to communicate what I think of it.
Great comment! Thanks so much Earl 🙂 Now Im curious to know the other 4 haha.
First off great shot – second off only 4 photo apps? I’m impressed!
Are these the only 4 you have or the only ones you use? I use Photo+ and Snapseed almost religously. Instagram I use occassionally but not as much as I did when it first came out.
However, I must be an app whore because I have 3 folders full of photo apps that I rarely use but occassionally turn on to try and remember why I downloaded them in the first place. Most of the time its for something like taking panoramics or bleach bypass for some filters that I’ll probably never use but I like having them anyways.
Oh trust me I used to be an app whore too, but a few months ago I cut it down to just these 4 and deleted the rest. Being I use my phone to run my business I like it to be rather simple, and not filled with all sorts of apps that I dont use. In-fact I only have one game app and Im even contemplating deleting that haha. Thanks for the comment Lama!
I love the composition and the colors of this photo. So far I don’t have any apps on my phone except the ones that came on it, which is far too many. But I think I’ll get the last one you mentioned. Sounds like a good place to learn something new.
Agreed, Its a great app to dive into 🙂 Thanks Shez!
This is a great photo Nick. I’m loving the gray scale with the splash of red. I’m curious, how much was done to the photo after the shot, if anything?
Thanks Glendene! A fair amount was done to the coloring of the image bringing it to a more dramatic feel. All the editing was done in Snapseed on my iphone. Thanks again 🙂
Nice shot. I have Apps 3&4. Love ’em.
They are fantastic 🙂
