“The Look”
“No Smoking”
It’s inevitable, there are going to be times where you get caught shooting, and when that happens chances are you will get “The Look”. While this may intimidate some, it inspires others… like me… why not make a mini collection out of it haha.
I’ve said in the past that I truly try to respect people, and though I tend to get in close for some pics I try not to invade to much of peoples comfort zone. Yet, there are still times when I get caught and get some nasty looks. After getting my shot I always smile, give a wave or thumbs up letting them know Im working in their favor trying to make them look good. I haven’t been punched in the face yet, however there were times while in Chicago that I thought it could likely happen. But hey I gotta get the shot π
“Business”
“Writing in Solitude”
“Reflecting Security”
Great set, Nick!!! And who hasn’t experienced “the look”?
Despite they are all fabulous, I like specially the second (his face and body language are fantastic).
Thanks again Santi! And yes he kind of stopped in his tracks in order to give me the glaring look lol.
ah … that familiar look.
hahaha, exactly Chuck! π
Heh. See what I started?
Sorry Carissa, I guess I don’t understand your comment.
I made the comment on your other post about getting “the look.” I thought that might have instigated this post.
Oh haha, I see what your saying now. Thanks Carissa
Yep, seen that a few times. Nicely captured.
Thanks Richard π
FUN!! I spent the weekend asking. Did not experience “the look.” Got lots and lots or smiles. π (At first Hubs was embarrassed and staying away I quoted you as the person who said “just ask.”) He observed that it worked, every time!!
It takes a while for those who tag along with us to build up the confidence we have to just run up and shoot some pics lol. I only ask when I feel its necessary, I like capturing candid moments π Thanks Shez
That first photo cracked me up! Funny! Good job.
Thanks Jamie! Isn’t that look priceless haha
This is one of the only things that has kept me from actually getting into street photography. I’m so worried about getting the look, or, like you say, the punch to the face. I think I’m going to wait until I can go on a photo walk with some local guys before I try doing this by myself. Great set btw, the business man was my favorite.
Hey Matthew! I can understand that, thats why you make it into a game like this. The Look is to be expected, capture it and turn it into a mini series haha. More often then not though I am met with a friendly smile or not seen at all. Do a photo walk as soon as possible, because your going to love street shooting! Thanks
I may have to do it that way, thanks for the tip. π
Your welcome π
Superb portraits there! Really like the one of the woman sitting down.
Thanks Richard, probably one of my favorites too! π
love the smoker
Isn’t he awesome! What a look he gave, and smoking next to the no smoking sign… priceless haha. Thanks Rob
Great shots
Thank you Clive π By the way your name sounds so awesome, like you should be a secret agent or spy! “Clive Jennings the international man”
Now that would be the life…………………………….dreeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmm……………………….. “CLIVE BACK TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” >>>>>> OOO I’m back , ya it would be nice……………………………….. keep on clicking Nick>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Haha, glad you enjoyed the thought π Thanks again
LOL! You’re brave! Great shots! π
Haha thanks Sonel!
amazing post, Nick!
Thanks again Mike!
Just love your work Nick. I love photographing people but I am always so careful not to step on toes. So I rather stick to my family and portrait shoots. But after reading your post I think I am ready to go out there and see if I can capture that look…
Haha, its a bit of a shift to shoot street photography from family portraitures, but its quite rewarding at the same time. Thanks Coreen!
It’s unavoidable…just shoot and RUN. Photo attack, guerilla styled.
Hahaha, I like your style Valerie π Thanks
Great topic Nick, something that every street photographer has or will experience at some point, there must be thousands of these shots about !!
Your right, I bet there are thousands of these shots floating around out there. I just love the idea of taking something that may turn some people off to street photography, and turning it into a game/scavenger hunt haha. Thanks Steve!
