AE-1 Adventures
“Lost”
Thankfully I was conveniently over prepared when I went out to shoot yesterday! A couple friends had to bail out on shooting at the last minute which came in handy when I got out to downtown and realized I forgot my SD card for shooting digital, and because I switched bags to bring both of my film cameras I had forgotten to bring my back up card as well. So I was left shooting entirely with the AE-1 for the day, which was a fun yet slightly nerve-racking experience. I’ve been known in the past to mess up a roll or two when it comes to shooting 35mm, and its still very much a learning and experimental stage for me. However at the end of the day the pictures did develop and I had captured a few fun scenes along the way.
This first scene caught my eye just a minute or two into the days shooting. I love the ironic twist to the backwards tourism, with her Big City New York hoody on while being lost in the extremely contrasting small city of Grand Rapids.
“Directions”
“Contrasting Awareness”
As the title of this pic suggests, I loved the contrasting levels of awareness in this scene. As the guys walks by oblivious to my existence the girl gives a nice smile in the background as I snap my shot.
“Bubbles”
My better half has his office in the building on the third photo.
Hey Cornelia! It’s a cool building I’ve shot it many times. It always has the greatest reflections 🙂
Absolutely stunning shots Nick! 🙂
Thanks Sonel 🙂
Great set!!!
Thanks Santi 🙂
YOU nailed the 35mm. 😀
I have been that girl in the first photo, figuring out which train to board. I couldn’t read the language. Hahaha.
Haha thanks Shez 🙂
What a great, tender, human set of shots.
Thanks Richard 🙂
Especially the first photo has an oddity to it. I think I have figured out what is happening in the lady’s bag. Great set of photos.
Thanks Joseph 🙂
Yeah…get out and shoot some film..it makes us think again ..Lovely set, well done 🙂
Agreed Mark 🙂 Thank you!
love the copper scratching his arse, my new to me EOS650 arrived in the post today can’t wait to get out and get playing with it.
Isn’t that hilarious! Cant wait to see how your shots turn out with the new cam 🙂 Thanks again
just got to find someone brave enough to lend me a lens so I can test it, not going to spend twice as much as I paid for it on a rubbish lens just to find out it’s in need of TLC. If it’s gonna work then I’ll get a nice prime lens for it and go from there.
Oh bummer it didn’t come with a lens? Does it have the same EF mount as the Rebels?
yep it’s the first EF mount camera so it shouldn’t be too hard to track someone with one down, I know a couple of people it’s just mixing diaries together to make it happen.
Right, if I come across anything exceptional deals on lenses Ill let you know.
thanks Nick, I quite fancy the 50mm f1.8 it’s available through amazon here for around $100usd which is a bargain . I just don’t want to spend it until I know the camera works
Yes 50 1.8 is on my cam about 85% of the time!
They are all awesome. I especially adore the bubbles!
Thanks Cee 🙂
