Spring time fun

“Downtown Buggy”

Who’s ready for yet another mini series??? THIS GUY!

If you haven’t figured it out from the automotive posts I’ve made in the past, Im a pretty big car guy. I grew up under the hood and have, in my 24+ years, owned over 16 different vehicles. A few were just daily commuters, while a good hand full of the rest were various japanese sports cars. My buddies and I used to spend the weekends tearing parts off our cars, just for contagious pleasure of having to put them back on. We would drive all over, just to drive, and on “Occasion” we may or may not have raced around town… Anyway, one of the biggest things I look forward to with the change in weather is the gatherings and sightings of gorgeous vehicles. The sleek shine of freshly waxed custom paint jobs, the whining roars of blower induced motors, the sweat smell of 110 octane passing through the air as the ground rumbles beneath your feet with the passing of seemingly steroid induced american muscle cars. Its a beautiful thing to say the least, yet in Michigan we are forced to go through our automotive withdraws, as the fall and winter put a damper on the testosterone inducing vehicular fun.Β

Coming across this Buggy downtown was like a breathe of fresh air, reassuring all car guys that our time has come once again. The initial vehicles such as this are a beacon of light, acting as a horse power driven bat signal calling all that remain in storage to come join in the fun. Its a wonderful feeling to know it is that time!

“Wireless Worker”

First of all, I will point out the main reason I took this picture is, this guy is rocking a bold red shirt and a straw fedora!! Props!!

Compared to most roaming town at his age, he has seemed to break free from the mold. Engulfed into his Macbook and iPhone he was clueless I was even a few feet away.

“Waiting for the bus”

This guy, whose name happened to be Nick as well, was a true sport and a great skater! He allowed me to take a good number of photos of him as he skated around waiting on the bus to arrive. I’ve actually photographed this scene a few times before, liking the blue dumpster against the yellow dock behind it, but always thought it was missing something. Now I realize it was missing Nick and his killer moves. I got his last name in order to find him on facebook and send him the pics, however I could not find him unfortunately.

So, Nick if you swing by to check this out email me your info or friend me on facebook so I can get you the shots!!

“Downtown Relaxation”

I was actually very excited about this scene while taking it. The dog on alert, the water bottle, and even the pole separating the couple made for an interesting scene.

“Shadow Tricks”

This is why I don’t mind waiting at one spot for 45 min to an hour! It all goes back to the quote “Find your stage and the players will come”. Walking up on this scene I couldn’t help but notice the awesome lighting that was creeping between a couple buildings just off to the background. Most of this arena was in shadow, but in the dead center was this soft wave of light, creating the perfect stage for this skater to truly shine (pun intended)! I hadn’t spoken with this guy at all, and am pretty sure he was oblivious to the fact i was even shooting, yet after waiting for a bit he gave me this truly amazing scene!

By the way, Im putting together another facebook contest that will be launched later this month/early next month. So make sure you are a fan of the Nick Exposed Facebook PageΒ to be in the loop on upcoming contests and all the other goodies I throw out to the FB friends πŸ™‚

  11. Love the red shirt picture.

  12. Particularly like the last skater but they’re all great. Agreed it takes courage to rock a straw Fedora with a red shirt but then again I’m still wearing a leather cowboy hat.

  13. That classic car is just amazing. The skateboarding photos are fantastic and usually you can get a lot out of them, just as you did πŸ™‚ great job

I “wowed” at the first shot, then thought “great writing” as I read your words, then scrolled to the next image and “wowed” again and again was impressed with your writing …. and it continued to the bottom of the page; I truly cannot pick my favorite. I want to be like you “when I grow up” (metaphorically speaking of course).
