Graphic Shadows

Again its time to play a bit of catch up with daily exposures. Lately I’ve had a sudden rise of work come through the study, which is always a great thing to have happen, unless your trying to keep up on a daily photo blog haha.

Being in graphic design I cant help but to love interestingly graphic scenes like this. I find it interesting how most the shadows through out have a mildly soft edge yet the main element projects a very crisp clean round shadow. I walk by this building just about every time I am downtown, and have acquired a good number of photos over the months in various weather conditions. Its one of those scenes thats simple yet appealing to me and my design focused mind.

Like I mentioned in my post the other day, my daily adventures with the camera has really helped spark the creative flow in all of my other work, whether it be design or even just my consulting work. Theres a certain power that comes with forcing yourself to approach each day with an open mind allowing creativity to flow however it may. It’s truly been an interesting process to observe.

I agree with you Nick, regarding the sparking of the creative flow. I find that forcing myself to be creative every day, and follow some very strict rules, really helps me feel energized and more alive, like I’m exercising my brain. I like it as much as a writing assignment in college, and I liked those very much! And, work is very good.

The 2 is overshadowing two 2s. Genius!

  4. The tonal range works really well with this image.

  5. Must be nice to be in an area with more than 3 buildings that are above 2 stories tall!

  6. Well said on the impact of photography on creative work in other areas πŸ™‚

  7. I like how the center of interest is the “2” in the upper left, but all the lines recede from it to the lower right corner. Neat.

  8. Great photo! Love the shadow.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  9. The guidelines and shapes are simply fantastic πŸ™‚

  10. Love the simplicity of the image – perfectly measured composition. Great shot.

  12. I LOVE this photo. πŸ˜€

I always wonder when you find time to “work” when I know how much time processing a photo and keeping up a blog takes. If only we didn’t need sleep. πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks Shez! I have a very unconventional schedule, thats for sure. With my design work I can typically balance the two, unless Im swamped with work like I have been lately (Good problem to have :). Its my consulting work that is a bit more firm with my schedule. There has definitely been a learning curve with my work schedule, and its still constantly changing, but thats part of what makes life so exciting!

  13. Perfection is simplicity … shades of shadows but all details are preserved… sharp lines and smooth tones… plain surfaces and textured brick wall… not too harsh highlights and not too dark shadows…. ellipses , circles , rectangle and squares…. and finally two twos …. A poem in a picture …

  14. fabulous shot Nick ~* love it

  15. Love this Nick. Very Smooth.
