Downtown Blues
I fell in love with this wall as soon as I seen it! If you haven’t noticed by now I love the color blue, and this scene is no exception. Β It reminds me of the photos I’ve seen of urban Philadelphia and NY, I picture kids playing basket ball down a side alley way, and a fire hydrant down the block being used as a large sprinkler with giggling children yelling “tag your it” every 10 seconds.
With the weather being so wishy washy lately its exciting even to me to see what each days photo will produce. Our snow is starting to melt again, only to be slightly replenished by the brief flurry here and there. Were suppose to have a good amount of snow rounding the corner of the week, but until then Im enjoying the vibrant saturated beauty of the different hues I’ve been so blessed to observe through the lens.
Love it!
Simply perfect.
I appreciate that very much!
This is a great shot! π
Thanks Miles!

Ps looking forward to nightly installments. Not a sleeper.
Hey thanks Brenda, Yea I do quit a bit of work late night as well! So relaxing with no distractions π
Nick, that blue is wonderful!
Thanks Kyle!
I like that you allowed the lens vignetting to be a part of the composition rather than fighting with it.
Thanks William! Personally I like a bit of vignetting, and I add a touch more in post. I appreciate you taking notice!
Great photo, fantastic framing and colours π
Filipe! I love seeing reoccurring faces pop up in my comments feed! Thanks for taking such interest in my creativity!
Fantastic blue wall! Well captured.
Hey Inga! As always thanks so much for your kind words!
Great composition. That’s what makes it!
Thanks Cindy! I agree, The dead space to the right gives my mind the creative freedom to place anything I want in front of the wall. I cant help but to picture a New York Police officer in an orange reflector vest walking in a blur in front of the wall. Thanks again for swinging by!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
I am very impressed with your photography and look forward to see more of it! I am definitely subscribing on my Google Reader π
Hey, I appreciate that Chris!! Thanks again for swinging by and leaving such kind words!
Nick – that is a really striking wall. You have a nice eye for color and texture! I commend you for getting out in the winter weather – It isn’t nearly that cold here in NC and I’m shivering!
Hey Lee!! Luckily yesterday there was a break in wind so it didnt feel as chilly as it has been. Today is going to be the tough one, its exceedingly colder then the last week or so haha. Wish me luck as I venture in to the white washed wonders of West Michigan (Thats a lot of W’s, once I started I just couldn’t stop). Thanks for swinging by and leaving a comment!
Just browsed back through to the beginning of the year – nice. You have an eye for architectural shots, too. For some reason I never “see” them when I’m out and about taking photos. π
Sheila, yea I’ve notice I gravitate towards the city detail shots haha. I think my big inspiration on this is Jay Maisel. I love his work in NY and it has inspired me to keep my eyes peeled for the beauty in what most people would see as merely white noise in their daily life. I love shooting in the city so much Im starting to ponder on getting an apartment closer to it so I can shoot there more frequently. haha
I love blue color too…
YES!
The blue is beautiful, true. It is a great backdrop for the white and all the wonderful textures. Love it!
Thanks Dezra!
Simple, effective, great composition
Thank you! Im sure you see a lot of amazing city scenery like this out in NY
simple beautiful, I love the color of the wall
Thanks Polly! I too love the simplicity and the color!

Nick,
This picture is absolutely beautiful. I love how vivid this shade of blue is. It’s dazzling. Keep up the good work! I’m glad you visited my blog, if only because I got to discover yours!
cheers!
Hey Katie! Thanks for you super kind words! I truly appreciate your compliments.
Love the contrast btw blue and white, it reminds me of Greece; white walls and blue doors.
Hey Marta! I’ve never been to Greece but if it looks anything like this then I definitely have to visit one of these days!! Thanks for sharing π
I only know Greece from pictures, never been there but it tops my bucket list.
Mine too now! π
ooooohhhh . . . the color on this one is amahhzing. i’m deep in a dreary/foggy/moody/low lighting phase right now, probably because the sun hasn’t shone for more than 5 minutes in atlanta for what seems like an eternity. this shot is awesome, and a welcome reminder that there are, in fact, sunny days still to be had. thanks for the boost. mazel!
Plenty more sunny days to be had! It takes the rain and gloom to make us appreciate that. Thanks for your kind words π
very nice Nick; where was this taken?
Hey Anake! This is in the outskirts of Downtown Grand Rapids Mi. Thanks for asking π
aaaaaah…this is just SO gorgeous!!!
Well done!
Thanks π
