Red Rider

Now that spring has arrived and the city is coming to life, its probably safe to say I may be posting more mini series of street shots in the upcoming months. This post is a mixture of a new shot above, and a few street shots from yesterday that didn’t really fit into the story the rest were telling. So I now present the missing pics from yesterdays wonderings.

Do you ask to take their photo?
    Love your work :)

    • Hey Ninali! Typically I do not ask to take their photo, I like to catch natural moments. But most often make eye contact at some point and give a sincere smile. Thanks for the kind words :)

      • Yeah, but do they know you are publishing their photos? Couldn’t this get you in a heap of trouble?

        • Hey Carissa! If they ask I do let them know it may be published. And no it cant get us in trouble to publish them, being its more editorial and journalistic. However if I ever receive a complaint I will have no issue with taking the picture down. Its nothing I worry about, Im out to make people look good, never the other way around. Thanks for the great question :)

  • as always you capture life living life

  • I agree with you. I am starting to take more street photographs myself. I find the most inestering ones are of people unaware of being photographed. The majority really don’t care. If someone comes up to me to ask why I was taking their picture I tell them and they are fine with it. Photography is a hobby to me so I don’t sell anything. I also carry a photo release form in my camera bag.

    Learning a lot from you.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

    • I dont carry releases with me, but if people ask I do tell them about the site. Sincerity and honesty will get you a long ways when it comes to street photography. I’ve actually seen some of the past people I’ve shot walking around town and we exchanged smiles and waves. Its really fun :) Thanks for the kind words Francine!

      • Nevermind, you answered my question.

    Stunning shots! :)

  • love3 the old boy in the Dog Pit

    • He was pretty funny, just kept staring at me while I was eating haha.

  • Even though i’m not very good at street photography, I enjoy it a lot. You did a great job there, for me the best one of these is the 2nd one. Great framing and colours.

    • Thanks Filipe! It is tons of fun :)

  • I enjoy the lines in the top pic – good one

  • Love the cafe shot – did he know you were taking a picture? Do you ask permission in these cases?

    • I had a few when he wasn’t looking, but kept shooting when he looked over at me. I did not ask permission but exchanged smiles afterwards. Sometimes it makes a better pic if you get caught while shooting :) Thanks Lutz

  • Wow! These are all sooooooooo good! You’re really inspiring me to get out and do some street photography.

    • Its so much fun Gina. I love just walking around downtown shooting. It really brings you to appreciating your town/city a bit more. Thanks again :)

  • Great photographs, hope I can improve to your level.

    • I appreciate that. To tell you the truth, the only reason I am where I am (whatever that may be) with my photography is cause Im out shooting hundreds of pics every single day. For every good shot I have 20 bad shots. I guess I’m just persistent ;) Thanks again

  • Excellent, revealing portraits. You’ve captured the moods of those people very nicely!

  • Santi

  • The second one is certainly my fav.
