Its been a bit since I’ve posted a Inspiring Photographer for y’all to check out. As a result I have an entire bookmark folder, full of creatives to share with you guys that I will slowly but surely sift through to bring you the best of the best.

Peter Hurley is a photographer I came across earlier this month as he was featured on Kelby Media’s weekly video podcast The Grid, which if you haven’t checked out yet be sure to do so, as its a completely free talk show all about the latest and greatest in the world of photography!!

Peters extraordinary style for photography originally started in front of the lens, as he was a model and Olympic Athlete (US Sailing Team!! My kind of sport!!), and since picking up a camera he has brought forth the tricks of the trade so to speak, closing the gap between the art of the photographer and the art of the model.

The way he is able to bring his subjects to life and truly make the most remarkable images, is unreal, and when you watch him shoot you can see that its much more then technical skill that needs to be mastered when talking about beautiful photography. The way he communicates and interacts with his clients truly results in some beautiful images, and really speaks to the true skills needed to produce outstanding portrait work.

He works mainly in Head Shot photography, but also does a good deal of environmental portraiture, and these days does so much with teaching other photographers how to really bring the best out of their clients. He not only has a DVD out called “The Art Behind the Head Shot”, but also has some excellent content on his youtube channel that is well worth checking out.

^^ This is a must watch for anyone who does any sort of portraiture work, even if its just shooting friends and family, your pictures will improve immediately!!

He has also set up and entire network to help Head Shot Photographers thrive in todays world. Called PH2Pro, its a mentor-ship program where you can train to become a PH2 certified head shot photographer and have work referred your way. Pretty cool stuff!!

All in all this is one phenomenal photographer who is well invested into the photographic community!  With an awesome personality and unique history, both in front of and behind the lens, you are sure to pick up a trick or two from Peter and his beautiful work!
