Abandoned Mongoose

If you haven’t figured it out by now… I love bikes!! (In fact my main mode of transportation is by bike! Why drive when you can bike.. very eco friendly and has infinite gas mileage ;) )

My love for bikes definitely spills over into my photography quite often. I have a feeling that eventually I will come out with a coffee table book or something documenting the hundreds of bike shots Im bound to acquire.

Out on my bike ride/photo adventure today, I stopped at a few of the playgrounds that surround my house (literally one less than a mile out in each direction). Most of them have been somewhat deserted for the summer now that the school year is finished. Only neighboring kids to accompany the lonely swings, monkey bars and slides.

At one particular playground there was a abandoned bike awaiting its riders return. Immediately I fell in love with its placement, at first among the towering brick wall of the school, and then to the background of the hopscotch courts.

This reminds me of my first couple bmx bikes as a kid. Im not one for doing tricks, but I did have pegs on both front and back, allowing the neighbor kids and I to test how many of us we could fit on the small two wheeler. It had to have looked like some crazy circus act coming down the street with 4 or 5 kids balanced on the handlebars and pegs, seconds away from disaster. But hey thats what kids do… well at least thats what we did. Always laughing at the face of danger… until it would bite us and shed some tears haha.
